Tanya Collins Design Inc. has been a creative force in the Ottawa interior design community since 2006. The interior design studio, led by founder and creative director, Tanya Collins, is known for their vision in maximizing function, flow, and light and their flair for blending classic sophistication with modern simplicity.
Offering full-service design from permit-ready architectural plans for additions, custom homes, and the remodeling of a home’s original footprint to the interior design and décor of a custom build or existing home, they understand the design details required on both ends of the spectrum from classic to contemporary. The team is passionate about the interior architecture first as it impacts the sight lines, the focal points, the light, the flow, the function of the space and how it is furnished. They aim to find harmony in all of their projects through careful analysis of the interior spaces and architecture. Not only is it their broad range that sets them apart but their discerning eye for the details from bespoke millwork, interior and exterior colour palettes, lighting and original art selections to juxtaposing materials, textures, shapes, and furniture styles. Their work does not conform to one specific style rather it is tailored to a client's preferences and lifestyle while respecting the home's architecture and location. The studio draws from a wide range of sources to suit our clients’ diverse tastes and budgets, offering trade discounts and order processing to our clientele. Our collaborative and intuitive approach ensures a more evolved, luxurious, and personalized interior, making the process and end result rewarding while allowing the studio to expand creatively.
Tanya Collins' maternal grandfather, Jaroslav Hasek has had a major influence not only on Tanya's design career but on the studio's design philosophy. Not only was Tanya's grandfather an exporter of the famous glass beads and jewellery manufactured in Jablonec nad Nisou, Jaroslav Hasek embraced modernism after being captivated by the exposition in Breslau in 1929. It was not long after, that he commissioned functionalist architect, Heinrich Lauterbach to design the Hasek Villa in 1931, the first flat roofed dwelling in the Czech Republic. It is regarded even today by scholars as one of the most beautiful efforts in the aerodynamic Functionalism of the Breslau school and is a registered national Czech landmark. Like her grandfather, Tanya too has a desire to make a bold and dramatic statement, often preferring to break the rules, when given the liberty by her clients.
