Tanya Collins

Tanya Collins, founder and lead designer of Tanya Collins Design Inc., has been a creative force in the Ottawa interior design community since 2006.  She is known for her vision in maximizing function, flow, and light and her flair for blending classic sophistication with modern simplictiy. From on the spot interior space planning and creative problem-solving to juxtaposing materials, textures, shapes, and furniture styles, her discerning eye for the details sets her apart. Her collaborative and intuitive approach does not conform to one specific style rather it is tailored to a client's preferences, budget and lifestyle while respecting the home's architecture and location. This ensures a more evolved, luxurious, and personalized interior, making the process and end result rewarding while allowing the studio to expand creatively.

Her maternal grandfather, Jaroslav Hasek has had a major influence on her design career.  Captivated by the exposition in Breslau in 1929, it was not long after, that he commissioned functionalist architect, Heinrich Lauterbach to design the Hasek Villa in 1931, the first flat roofed dwelling in the Czech Republic.  It is regarded even today by scholars as one of the most beautiful efforts in the aerodynamic functionalism of the Breslau school and is a registered national Czech landmark.  Like her grandfather, Tanya too has a desire to make a bold and dramatic statement, often preferring to break the rules, when given the liberty by her clients.

Tanya is fortunate to have an extensive residential portfolio that includes some of Ottawa's most prominent families and to have been the designer of the Minto Grand Prize Dream Homes from 2018-2023 for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Dream of a Lifetime Lottery.  She is proud to have been a part of the largest fundraisers ever in CHEO's history while winning national awards for her creative vision specifically for the Bohemian, the Modern Desert and Le Réve.  She has been a regular contributor to CTV Ottawa Morning Live, has been the Homes Editor for Ottawa Life Magazine and has appeared on the cover twice as a Top Ottawa Designer. Besides the Canadian Home Builder's Association, she has received multiple kitchen, bathroom, home design, and renovation awards annually through the National Kitchen and Bath Association of Ottawa and Greater Ottawa Home Builder's Association.

Tanya continues to be inspired by the beauty all around her, whether in nature or in art as seen in the details - color, light, form and texture. She is thankful for all of her clients, especially those in which long-lasting friendships have developed.  By sharing her expertise, she hopes her clients enjoy a greater quality of life within their interiors.
