Finalist at the Canadian Home Builder's Association for Production Kitchen and Production Home > 2800 square/ft. The Equestrian at 364 Flare Grove in Mahogany, Manotick is the sixth and final Dream Home collaboration for Tanya Collins Design with Minto, for the Children's Hospital (CHEO) Dream of a Lifteime Lottery. The Equestrian embodies a timeles design blending modern equestrian fashion and upscale British riding culture for a sophisticated yet understated ambiance. Bolder colors like British racing green, navy blue and camel, warm wood mahogany finishes, antique brass lighting, panelled walls and a waffle wood ceiling offer depth and richness contributing to a profound sense of home. Dekton kitchen counters and backsplash imitate heavily veined marble, basketweave tile flooring and dark wood vanities lend a luxury hotel-like experience and checkerboard black and white stone flooring resemble what might be found in the entrance of a regal countryside estate. The decor is very layered with the chinoiserie found in the wallpaper, blue and white ginger jars and lamps, the brass mesh cabinet inlays, mullioned glass details, cognac leather sofas, plaid drapery, herringbone patterned rugs and graphic zebra cowhide accents. In referencing the iconic Ralph Lauren style, the interior appeals to a discerning owner who also values maintenance-free materials for family living.
Prioritizing resilience and sustainability, the Equestrian exceeds current building codes by 81% in energy efficiency. Operational carbon emissions are 88% lower, supported by solar panels, battery storage, state-of-the-art insulation, and geothermal heating and cooling systems. Advanced features such as Panasonic Canada's EverVolt™ solar panels, Intelli-Balance™ Energy Recovery Ventilators, WhisperAir Repair™ with nanoe X™ purification technology, and Smart Swidget plugs and switches offer greater control over solar power, circulate fresh air, purify indoor air, and monitor air quality. Not only do all of these features enhance comfort but also contribute to a home that is both environmentally conscious and forward-thinking.

We repurposed furniture where possible but re-decorated in most areas to suit the client's budget.

This one bedroom boutique condo plus den was a full service interior design and decor project that took us outside Ottawa dockside to the St. Lawrence River located in Gananoque. It required collaboration with CaraCo Development Corporaton for completion. Most of the material selections were selected through the CaraCo Design Center however TCD outsourced appliances, tiles, mirrors, lighting, and plumbing fixtures and customized cabinet and range hood details to create a bespoke result. All decor was purchased in advance of the construction deadline and stored in a warehouse space in Ottawa prior to installation. Canadian Home Builder's Association (CHBA) National Award for Housing Excellence 2022 | Winner for Best Net Zero Home
This is Minto's Grand Prize Dream Home called the "Caraway" for the CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery for 2021. The interior design was inspired by Scandanavian mid-century modern design and layered with a desert palette of clay, sienna, and desert pink. From the dramatic marbilized walls in the principal ensuite to the powder room wall tiles to the interior door colors and the great room sofa fabric, analogous colors are mixed to create a soothing effect. There are an abundance of juxtapositions - from mixing Nordic inspired shapes and forms with warmer earthy colors as well as mixing formal antique mirrors with clean lined low profile chairs and sconce lighting. Modern and clean yet organic and warm are the hallmarks of the aesthetic this year.
GOHBA 2020 Award Winning Renovation under $100,000
This project was a main floor renovation involving removal of a load bearing wall, the addition of a new larger window to the backyard pool, and relocation of the kitchen and dining room. This structural change dramatically altered the living space allowing the light to flood the space with better flow to the backyard BBQ and pool. The kitchen was also increased in size to better suit the proportions of the large home. With the new kitchen layout and the addition of an oversized island, greater functional space and storage for family living and entertaining was acheived. Clients can also host larger gatherings with their larger dining space while still incorporating a spot for their piano and lounging chair. Tanya Collins Design provided the concept for the renovation, permit ready drawings with lighting plan and a kitchen layout with finish selections.
Canadian Home Builder's Association National Award for Housing Excellence Winner 2021 for Best Production Home > 2800 square/ft
The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Dream Home 2020 in the Minto Mahogany community located in Manotick, Ontario is a 4700 square foot, 2.5 storey, 4 bedroom home with a screened-in porch and upper level loft space. The interior reflects a Bohemian aesthetic; a more casual layered decorating style with lots of texture and pattern. An earthly colour palette was chosen with finishes such as rustic wood, terracotta tiles, old world brick, heritage green interior doors, honed counters, plaster-colored walls, and warm metals such as bronze and antique gold. To complete the design, the home was layered with oatmeal upholstery, macrame, fringe, hand embroidered wall hangings, baskets, vintage looking Persian runners, and lots of greenery. Texture was created from decor with a more worn-in, crafted look. Since Boho style stems from travellers, artists, or writers, touches of the exotic are plentiful. Moorish influences as found in Spain and Morocco are reflected in the arch, diamond, and star motifs and through the patterned wallpapers and textiles like the hand embroidered Suzani in the loft. Hand-carved Indian style wooden accent pieces are artisan-inspired and rough-hewn architectural ceiling beams reinforce the character. This home conjures up the feelings of warmth, comfort and safety while making us feel transported to another part of the world; something we all wish to feel in our homes in such uncertain times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

GOHBA Housing Design Finalist for Custom Kitchen 176-250 square feet
The kitchen remodel of a 1910 home in central Ottawa captures the charm of French bistro styling. Details such as the calacutta oro rangehood, square matte white tiles laid in a brick pattern with contrast grout, unlacquered satin brass shelving, face frame cabinetry and rift-cut oak furniture style island make this a bespoke kitchen. The original birch/ash hardwood floors were refinished to neutralize the orange and yellow tones.
A Dramatic Gatineau Contemporary. The clients' love for mid-century modern design was evident from the first consult. Other than the Arco floor lamp, the Corbusier lounger, the wood antler accessory, and the harvest dining table (which I convinced them to re-use), the space was transformed with all new decor, drapery, a new paint colour and removal of the incomplete fireplace tile facade to further modernize the open concept living and dining room. Hightlights include abstract original oils by Ottawa artist, Heidi Conrod and Number 7 Lounge Chairs by Ottawa studio furniture designer, Christopher Solar.
